Jennifer Hightower serves as the Deputy Vice President for Student Services at
Arizona State University with responsibility for University Housing and Dining
Services, Orientation and Parent Programs, the Memorial Union, Fraternity and
Sorority Life, student clubs and organizations, and divisional assessment activities.
She has also co-chaired the university’s task force on Sexual Violence Prevention
and International Student Success. Prior to joining ASU in 2011, Jennifer spent 15
years at Carnegie Mellon University where she served as Dean of Student Affairs
and Associate Dean of Student Affairs. In this capacity, she oversaw Residence
Life, Orientation and Parent Programs, Health Services, Counseling and
Psychological Services, Student Activities, International Education, Career
Services, Student Conduct and Greek Life. She has also held positions at the
University of Iowa and Yakima Valley Community College.
Jennifer completed her doctoral degree at the University of Pittsburg in Higher
Education. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Higher Education from the
University of Iowa and Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Arizona State
University. She has participated in various leadership development symposiums
including The Center for Creative Leadership, The Disney Institute, and The
Academic for Innovative Higher Education Leadership.
Within the community she is actively involved in National Charity League, serves
as a Girl Scout Troop Leader, and volunteers regularly with Feed My Starving
